Elizabeth Bracco was the first candidate in the city to complete the nomination process for Gilroy’s first district-based council election: she filed her Form 501 on July 7, 2026, was the first to submit nomination papers on July 17, and qualified for the District 6 ballot on July 20. She is the daughter of Councilmember Dion Bracco, who is retiring from local politics after 21 years on the council — though the seat she seeks is the new District 6, not his.

In early August her campaign came online — a website (elizabethbracco.com), a Facebook page and an Instagram account (@elizabethbraccoforcitycouncil). Introducing herself, she describes herself as a fourth-generation Gilroyan continuing a family tradition of public service, and frames her campaign around integrity, transparency and thoughtful leadership, with the slogan “Let’s focus on the future — not the past.” Her campaign committee, Bracco for Council District 6 2026, is registered with the FPPC (ID #1492629); its mailing address is P.O.
